Xbox Live's Games With Gold For April Announced
Xbox Gold members have a lot to look forward to in April, including double the content usually made available in the Games with Gold department. Starting next month, you can expect a pair of Xbox One titles to get you through April, as well as four new games for your Xbox 360 collection.
First word for the April Games with Gold lineup went out through Xbox Wire this morning, touting a pretty impressive lineup of titles including everything from a few indie gems to a handful of AAA games sure to delight any action fan.
“Above all, we want to celebrate our fantastic Xbox Live community this April, and that’s why we’re so pleased to announce that Games with Gold will offer double the free games for April,” reads the announcement.
So enough beating around the bush, let’s take a look at those games.
For you billiards fans in the audience, you’ll be happy to know that Pool Nation FX is coming to Games with Gold via the Xbox One. Whether tackling the table solo or playing some friends online, April is your month to shine.
Speaking of shining, Xbox One’s second GwG offering is the beautiful indie darling, Child of Light. An “RPG inspired by fairytales,” according to Xbox Wire, Child of Light is a unique take on a familiar genre, complete with turn-based battles, puzzles to solve and an art style practically guaranteed to make you smile.
If you’re gaming on the Xbox 360, then your Games with Gold offerings for the month are decidedly a lot more violent. We’ll take a gander at these in order of least to most blood splatters.

First up is the indie world-building adventure game, Terraria. Think Minecraft, but in 2D, and with a much, much larger emphasis on RPG elements like building a town for your NPCs, crafting gear, exploring dungeons and battling loads of monsters and gigantic bosses. This game stole a significant chunk of my free time a couple of years ago and I still get the itch to return to its massive amounts of fun on a regular basis. So play at your own risk.
Next up is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Yep, that’s a pretty rad get for the Games with Gold collection, as it’s widely hailed as the best in the series and, you know; it’s only like a year old. Get stabby-stabby on the high seas with Black Flag this April.
Third on the list for Xbox 360 games is Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel. The third chapter in the popular co-op shoot-a-thon sees players once again relying on a buddy as they put plenty of new holes into the bodies of many a bad guy.
Finally, there’s Gears of War: Judgment. Whether you’ve simply missed out on the latest Gears game or have been interested in giving the series a go, Judgment is yours for no additional cost next month courtesy of Games with Gold.
