Zelda Skyward Sword First Week Sales Nears 200k In Japan
Not only has Nintendo's exclusive beat out the competition in Japan but it also managed to help move consoles. That's right, Zelda Skyward Sword shifted nearly 200,000 units in Japan and managed to nearly double sales of the Wii console in Japan.
According to Media Create [via GI.biz], one of the hard-hitting flagship franchises from Nintendo's powerhouse exclusives is showing that it still has the magic touch moving 194,978 within one week. Despite coming into a crowded holiday season line-up of games like Battlefield 3, Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Need for Speed: The Run and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Zelda Skyward Sword still managed to stand out, even when CoD: MW3 was leading the sales over in Japan.
This is definitely good news for the Big 'N especially coming off some positive Metacritic scores, which sits at an impressive 93 out of 100, as well as an industry nod by Spike's VGA academy who nominated Zelda: Skyward Sword for possibly being Game of the Year.
You can pick up a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword right now, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii at local retailers. For more information on the game feel free to visit the Official Website.
