Zen Pinball 2 Rolls Onto Wii U This Week
After appearing on the likes of the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Vita, Zen Pinball 2 is finally rolling on over to the Wii U, offering a massive library of original pinball tables to gamers on Nintendo's latest home console.
I've been a big fan of the Zen brand of pinball games for several years now. What started out as a few simple ideas turned into creative (and mostly grounded in reality) pinball tables has since evolved into a pretty impressive collection of machines that you could never actually play in the real world such as the Star Wars and Plants Vs Zombies tables. Whether you're tackling one of Zen's own creations, like Epic Quest of Paranormal, or one of the many tables featuring licensed properties like Marvel's Wolverine, Civil War or Plants vs Zombies, each table is packed with animated components and unique twists that can only exist within the world of virtual pinball.
Beginning as a collection of just four tables, Zen Pinball 2 has evolved the brand to include around 30 machines, all available for download on the Nintendo eShop next Thursday, March 21st. Just like on previous consoles, Wii U pin-heads will be able to download the core game free of charge and try out a demo of every table available. From there, you can decide which tables you want to add to your own collection and fork over the cash to buy them.
I've done a bit of searching and I can't track down any information on whether or not the Zen Pinball 2 library will be complete at launch for the Wii U. The press release from Zen Studios has the vast majority of tables listed, including all of the original tables, the Marvel tables and plenty of additional tables like Sorcerer's Lair and Mars. What I don't see, however, are the Star Wars tables that were recently released on the other platforms.
Either way, it looks like Wii U gamers will have more than enough tables to keep them busy on launch day, so get ready for Zen Pinball 2 on March 21.
