Another remake of a recent foreign-language film will begin filming soon in New York City. These are usually a bit dicey, but this one has a secret weapon: Mickey Rourke. Oh, and 50 Cent. I can’t imagine this not succeeding in a big way.
13 is a remake of Gela Babluani’s French-language film 13 Tzameti. That film won the 2006 Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. Variety reports that the English-language version will star Rourke, 50 Cent, Jason Statham, and Sam Riley. Babluani, who both wrote and directed the original, will have the same responsibilities on the remake.
The script is about a man who steals a package that will reportedly pay out a fortune. The original movie had the man heading to an underground gambling club where bets are made on other men’s lives.
