Sensual Swedish lesbian drama Kiss Me (originally Kyss Mig) got an English name and release date over the summer, but if you didn’t catch the drama, you'll be able to pretty soon. The film follows a young woman who embarks on an affair with another woman just before she is supposed to be married to a man named Tim. If that sounds intriguing, copies will be available via Wolfe Video on DVD and digital starting on September 25.
Kiss Me did pretty well in the festival world, even pulling in the audience award win at the AFI Festival last year, which is why it is surprising it has taken so long for the film to make the rounds, everywhere. The film has been noted for it’s lush cinematography and “sensual love scenes,” but I’d be more excited about seeing the film to catch its rich musical backdrop. Both the easygoing Swedish-Argentine musician José González and pop singer Robyn--whom Miley Cyrus has been busy trying to ineffectively emulate--have music in the film.
The DVD, set, however, looks really sad. Not only will there be no Blu-ray release, there won’t be any special features available with the set, and it isn’t even running for that cheap. Alright, so $24.95 is not overly expensive, but it’s more expensive than a Pawn Stars set, and that show gets several million viewers an episode. If you didn’t fall in love with the movie immediately during its theatrical release, this may be one to rent or catch in another platform, later on.
