Aardman Wins The Race

Aardman Animations Ltd. found out this year that their claymation movie Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit was a smash hit—and then discovered their character props from the film were burned in a fire. How’s that for a platter of mixed emotions?

According to Variety, they are not letting a little blaze stop them from making wonderfully creative movies that the world so desperately needs. They have picked up the rights to the classic story The Tortoise & The Hare for the big screen. The tale is about an overconfident rabbit in a race that finds himself beaten by a sluggish turtle (which makes the whole ‘slow but steady wins the race’ motto a valuable tidbit.)

The company originally halted production of the film back in 2001 due to script problems, so hopefully it will see the light of day this time around. Their next project hitting theaters is Flushed Away, which will be their first venture into CGI animation. Hugh Jackman will lend his voice to the character of an upscale rat who gets flushed down the toilet and winds up in the sewers of London.
