Last night we were responsible for firing up the latest round of Batman casting rumors. Now The Latino Review is throwing more coal in the furnace. First, they were able to confirm the scoop we brought you first yesterday and say that Emily Blunt is indeed in the running for the role of Rachel Dawes. Score one for us. They also seconded the notion put forward last week that Rachel McAdams is another contender. But they’re bringing another name to the table too. They say Maggie Gyllenhaal is also being considered.
Of the three, Gyllenhaal seems to me to be the most ill suited. I still say Emily Blunt is the best fit, though Maggie does bear the closest resemblance to Katie Holmes of the three. But why should that matter?
In perhaps even bigger news, LR also claims to know who is playing Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight. We’ve heard a lot of names thrown around for the part over the last few months, but they insist that Aaron Eckhart has it. Aaron was last seen teaching kids about the joys of a good cigarette in the great 2006 movie Thank You For Smoking. He’s a brilliant actor who, till Smoking, had been in a lot of crap. Could he pull of Harvey Dent? Hell yes! He fits the part physically, the guy can really act, and it’s easy to see him both as the respected District Attorney Dent and as the disfigured, mad criminal Two-Face. Let’s hope this is one rumor that pans out. Eckhart is the perfect Harvey Dent. een rumored for it, it’s Aaron Eckhart who has won the part.
