About Cherry Is Coming To Blu-ray In January
Stephen Elliott’s directorial debut, About Cherry, tackled some oddball subject matter, delving into the world of the porn industry and one young girl’s entrance into that field. The film premiered at the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival to little acclaim, but if a skin flick with a likeable protagonist seems up your alley, About Cherry will be available on Blu-ray and DVD beginning on January 15, 2013.
About Cherry stars Ashley Hinshaw as an 18-year-old who sells some naked photos to make it to San Francisco, where she ends up getting into the pornography industry and dating an attorney who just so happens to have a coke addiction. The ambling story also stars such random actors as James Franco, Dev Patel, and Heather Graham. Despite the talent involved, the flick was only released in three theaters for a grand total of one week, so the DVD and Blu-ray release will probably be your best chance to catch the film.
IFC Films and MPI Home Video will be putting together some pretty simple DVD and Blu-ray sets. Both sets will feature the original theatrical trailer, although if you want to give the trailer a shot before you decide to pick this one up, you can check out the red band trailer here. Additionally, both sets will come with deleted scenes. It’s really no surprise the About Cherry release would be short on the bells and whistles, as it is an independent film, and the price will sort of reflect that. DVD copies will run for $24.98 and Blu-ray copies will run for $29.98.
