Adam Sandler And Ben Stiller Are Making A Comedy, Here's What We Know

Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler have always been simultaneously the most beloved and most controversial comedians the world has ever seen. While both are capable of dramatic heft and comedic tomfoolery, they've made some questionable decisions in their time, and have made fans wonder why certain portions of their filmographies exist. If you're one of those fans, get ready to smile, as both jokers have signed on to be in the next Noah Baumbach film.

Entitled Yen Din Ka Kissa, the film is currently shooting in New York City and has begun doing so with little to no fanfare – which, according to The Film Stage, is exactly Baumbach's style. Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller are joined by Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson, who are playing their parents in the film. Unfortunately, we don't have too much on the film's plot, save for the following synopsis posted on the shooting announcements on the street:

The film tells the story of an estranged New York family coming together in preparation of artist & patriarch Harold’s career retrospective.

Without any further details on Yen Din Ka Kissa in the offing, save for the aggression that Emma Thompson's character will display as a "dreadful passive-aggressive alcoholic," we can begin to see where that Noah Baumbach magic will come into play. Which means the fact that Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler are involved is a promising sight, as both have proven that given the right material, they can knock a dramedy out of the park. Stiller is in especially good hands, as he's recently worked with Baumbach in last year's indie comedy While We're Young.

If anything, Adam Sandler stands to be the cast member to benefit greatly from their involvement in Yen Din Ka Kissa. With a 2015 that included The Cobbler, Pixels, and The Ridiculous Six in his canon, Sandler didn't have the best of luck when it came to both critical and audience good will. With his first film working with Noah Baumbach, Sandler theoretically seems poised to deliver a performance akin to that of his work in Reign Over Me or Punch Drunk Love. Doing his best work in indie films that trust him with top tier material, casting Adam Sandler in a Baumbach film actually has us pretty excited to see the end result.

There's no release date in sight for Yen Din Ka Kissa just yet, but with the film already in production, it's looking like a release later this year wouldn't be terribly out of the question. As for wher you can see Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller next, Sandler has The Do Over due out at some point this year, with Stiller currently making the rounds in Zoolander 2.
