Alamo Drafthouse Reveals Mind-Bending Poster For Quentin Dupieux's Wrong
With the imaginative but downright weird horror-comedy Rubber, writer-director Quentin Dupieux established himself as a filmmaker to watch. I mean, how many moviemakers think to make their protagonist an actual tire named Robert, who has a passionate obsession for a beautiful young woman and a telekinetic power for destruction on par with Carrie White? Just Dupieux. So when the French filmmaker offered his follow-up, called Wrong, at Sundance last year, fans of cult comedies and unconventional narratives were eager to see what Dupieux had brought to the big screen this time.
On its surface, the plot is simple; it's about a man searching for his missing dog. But penned and helmed by Dupieux, you know there will be some weird and wild turns along the way. (Check out Wrong's Sundance teaser trailer here.) Wrong recently wrapped its festival tour, bouncing from Sundance to Champs-Elysées, Toronto, Stockholm, and Turin—just to name a few. Now the movie's domestic distributor, Drafthouse Films, is paving the unconventional comedy's way to its theatrical release with a telling new poster. Check it out below:
In this striking one-sheet, there's no clue to the kind of trouble Wrong's hero Dolph Springer (Jack Plotnick) has awaiting him in this strange adventure as he seeks his missing furry friend, Paul. However, it's clear Paul is never far from Springer's thoughts. While they didn't make the poster, be assured Springer will confront a promiscuous pizza delivery girl, a deranged jogging junkie, an opportunistic French-Mexican gardener, an eccentric pet detective (are there any other kind?), and a guru whose thoughts run as deep as his ponytail does long.
Wrong will be available on VOD on February 1st. A limited theatrical release will follow this spring. In the meantime, you can pre-order the above poster for $7.99, or get a free sampler of the movie's soundtrack at Drafthouse Films' site.
