The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Stunt Creates A Car Sandwich
No, this isn’t the newest version of a hybrid car, combining two vehicles into one for the benefit of fuel conservation.
Instead, Marc Webb continues to Tweet from the set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and as the director points out, on Day 20, “something happened” to producer Matt Tolmach’s cab:
But what happened? Did a Rhino (Paul Giamatti) pick the top car up by his horn and throw it toward Tolmach’s cab? Or did Electro (Jamie Foxx) lift the top car using his electrical charges, dropping the automobile on Tolmach’s cab? Ah, the possibilities are endless when it comes to cars being smashed together in a New York-based superhero movie.
At least this new image isn’t a vague clue toward some potential spoiler in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Clearly, there are going to be city-threatening action sequences in Webb’s sequel – every sequel, by definition, ups the ante from the previous installment – so seeing such vehicular destruction on set is to be expected.
I still think it’s funny to find the director of a major studio tentpole effort sharing anything from his or her set. Perhaps this is the new trend – an effort to stay ahead of the spoilers by simply spoiling things on an official Twitter feed? Or maybe Webb’s being very calculating about what he is showing, thereby showing nothing at all? We won’t know for sure until the sequel reaches theaters on May 2, which is when Andrew Garfield is expected to swing into action once again.
