Anchorman: The Legend Continues Set Hit By Wire Thieves
For a long time it looked like we would never get to see a sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Because the film only managed to make $5 million in international markets, Paramount Pictures didn't think that the project was a wise investment, despite the fact that the first one has gone on to gain cult status and is one of the most quotable movies of the last decade. But last year the studio finally broke down and gave the sequel, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, the green light with the entire main cast set to reprise their roles and a release date set for late 2013.
Things have been going so well for so long now, though, that it was only a matter of time before something bad happened...and now that it has it turns out to be something very weird.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (via SlashFilm) is reporting that the Anchorman 2 set has been hit by wire thieves who managed to steal $300,000 worth of material during their heist as well as four computers. The break-in was first reported to the police on December 27th and is apparently one of many break-ins that have been happening over the last few weeks in the area. The building that was robbed now has a sign on the door offering anyone a $5,000 reward for information that could lead to finding the culprits and getting justice.
Anchorman: The Legend Continues will open December 20th and you can find out more about the movie in our Blend Film Database.
