Anchorman: The Legend Continues Will Take Ron Burgundy And Company To New York
Despite the fact that the project has been in development for years now, Adam McKay and Will Ferrell have managed to keep a pretty tight lid on plot details for Anchorman: The Legend Continues, the upcoming sequel that will reunite comedy fans with the great Ron Burgundy. But as the film moves through production on the way to its December release and the filmmakers and cast keep talking about the story, some details are bound to get out. Like, for example, the fact that the sequel will feature the Channel Four news team heading to the Big Apple.
Empire has learned from McKay directly that part of the Anchorman sequel will feature Ron (Ferrell), Brick (Steve Carell), Champ (David Koechner), Brian (Paul Rudd) and Veronica (Christina Applegate) leaving their comfortable San Diego homes to travel to New York. According to the filmmaker, San Diego won't be left behind entirely, as it's "too close to Ron's heart to go away," but notes that "New York City is the holy grail for all newsmen."
The director/co-writer also confirmed what has been rumored for a few months now, saying that Kristen Wiig will indeed be playing a love interest for Brick. But, as you can imagine, it's not easy to woo a mentally-challenged weatherman. Said McKay,"Brick's so far gone that you can't have a relationship with him. It takes a special someone to get a rope snare around his heart. She is dangerous!"
Anchorman: The Legend Continues will be in theaters on December 20th and for all the latest updates, as well as the first teaser trailer, head over to our Blend Film Database.
