Ang Lee Hops Back In The Saddle

Oscar-winning director Ang Lee abides by the motto, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. Following his much-deserved success with Brokeback Mountain, Lee is teaming up for a second time with Focus Features, hoping to produce the same kind of magic.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Lee’s next movie, titled Lust, Caution, is an espionage thriller set in WWII-era Shanghai. The screenplay will be written by Wang Hui-Ling (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), and adapted from a short story by deceased Chinese author Eileen Chang.

Producer Schamus, who has worked with Lee on nine feature films, says: ”I'm delighted that Ang is back with all of us here at Focus, and he's going to be making a very exciting film that's unlike anything he's done before”. He adds: ”He and I glad to reteam with Bill and Wang again after our great success together on Crouching Tiger. Like that picture, Lust, Caution is a uniquely Asian story which, in Ang's hands, will surprise and attract audiences around the world”.

Lust, Caution will be shot in Chinese, and production is slated to begin this fall.
