Angelina Jolie Stares You Down In New Maleficent Poster

The horns. The collar. The eyes. The claws! Everything about the new poster for Disney's Maleficent screams danger. And at the top, almost unnecessarily, is the reminder that we're looking at Angelina Jolie. Even with the impressive costume and make-up, sharpening those high cheekbones, there's no mistaking that face.

From what we hear, you might want to keep an eye on the Maleficent Twitter. Right now, the only thing that's on there is the above poster but there may be more on the way soon enough!

Described as the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain, Maleficent stars Angelina as the titular villain, whom we're all familiar with from Sleeping Beauty. But who was she before she cast the curse that put Aurora to sleep? That's the tale this film seeks to tell as it reveals the events that hardened Maleficent's heart.

"Maleficent" explores the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic "Sleeping Beauty" and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect the moors over which she presides, Maleficent cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king’s newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy. Maleficent realizes that Aurora may hold the key to peace in the land and is forced to take drastic actions that will change both worlds forever.

We got our first look at Jolie as Maleficent back in June of last year, and since then, we've seen some better glimpses of her, the most recent of which -- excluding the above poster -- was a shot of Jolie and her daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt in a scene in which the younger Jolie plays young-Aurora.

And here's a look at Elle Fanning as the grown Aurora...

With the film due out at the end of May, there's still plenty of time for Disney to continue to build momentum for this movie. And from what they said about something big coming, it appears we have more to look forward to in the near future. In the meantime, here's the previously released trailer.
