Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron Set Photos Reveal First Look At Ultron
Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron has been dutifully filming in such exotic locations as Johannesburg, South Africa (where it’s believed the Hulk did some damage) and Italy (which we believe will be the base of operations for Baron von Strucker). And the Avengers 2 production hasn’t been too worried about hiding from cameras, shooting in public locations wth high-profile stars. Which is why we now have crystal clear set photos of several Avengers in action – as well as our first image of Ultron!
In the latest round of Avengers 2: Age of Ultron filming, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor Johnson) are in the midst of a destructive battle, firing arrows and running super fast – as Quicksilver does – to avoid hazards. Who are they fighting? If the set photos that found their way online are any indication, they will be waging war against the lethal robot known as Ultron (James Spader).
Because these are, by far, the most spoilery images we’ve yet to see for The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, we are taking an extra step to protect you. If you want to see how Whedon’s versions of these classic Marvel characters will translate in the sequel, click the below images and you'll be taken to the photos on a different website...

Hawkeye, if we’re being honest, looks like Hawkeye. Not a lot of changes from what we saw in Whedon’s first Avengers movie. And, sadly, no purple. Damn!
Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and their Avengers 2 costumes are… interesting? Olsen looks like she could work the cash register at a Hot Topic in the nearby mall. Johnson – I’m just not sure what they are doing with Quicksilver. His bleach-blonde hair doesn’t scream "Pietro Maximoff!" But until we see him in action, he’ll be a mystery. It’s slightly better than the Quicksilver we are seeing in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Slightly. Because, "Goggles!"
Ultron is… well, I just don’t want to describe it in detail. I think that this half-suit costume being used for filming will look totally different on screen, and that the character of Ultron will be far more digital. Like Hulk in the original film. Those who saw leaked shots of Mark Ruffalo on the Avengers set had no idea what to expect. It ended up looking amazing. I think Ultron will look a lot better.
The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron blasts into theaters next May 1. Unless, you know, we see all of it online between now and then.
