Avengers 2 Footage Screened In Europe, Production Now Underway At Dover Castle
With San Diego Comic-Con set to start in just a little more than a month, we know that it won't be long until we get to feast our eyes on the first ever footage from Joss Whedon's The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Marvel Studios goes all out every year during their presentation in Hall H, and given how long Avengers 2 has been in production we are guaranteed to get at least a tiny taste. While we are going to have to wait a little while to see anything from the movie ourselves, however, some folks over in Europe apparently just got their first glimpse.
The annual CineEurope convention - where theater owners from around the continent come together to talk about the future of the industry - is currently being held in Barcelona, Spain, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, part of the Walt Disney Company's presentation including the screening of early footage from The Avengers: Age of Ultron (along with a featurette reel about Peyton Reed's Ant-Man). What's most disappointing about the trade report is that it includes neither details about how much was seen let alone descriptions of what was shown. We are going to continue hunting for info, so keep an eye on this space for updates.
Don't fret, however, because that's not the only Avengers 2 related update we have for you all today.
Word has come from the folks over at the Dover Express in England who have learned that the production of the Marvel Studios blockbuster is continuing to do some on-location shooting and is now filming some sequences as Dover Castle. The report says that multiple stars from the movie will be present, but one name stands out in particular: Scarlett Johansson. Because of the young actress' pregnancy, she was forced to film all of her scenes as Black Widow at the front of the shooting, allowing her to take time off to have her baby later this year. It's possible that Whedon is bringing her back for some additional shooting in Dover, but it's also possible that the source has been misinformed.
While Johansson is a questionable presence in Dover, though, we do know for a fact that Robert Downey Jr. and his Tony Stark persona will definitely be on hand. Twitter user DienPacheco has posted a few images of the Iron Man star exiting a helicopter at the site, which you can see below:
The Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be in theaters on May 1, 2015.
