Before Avengers 2, Ultron Will Be Featured Prominently Here
We still don’t know when we’re going to get a full trailer for next summer’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron (despite rumors that it could be attached to anything from Big Hero 6 to Interstellar). But we can tell you this – you’ll soon be able to schedule a personal screening of some brief Avengers footage in a matter of months. Here’s how.
The supplemental features on the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy have been revealed, and they will include what’s being described as an "Exclusive Look at Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron" (according to ComingSoon). What will we see? If we had to hazard a guess, I’m thinking it could be the footage that Marvel brought to San Diego Comic-Con, which was an extended sequence of the Avengers gathered in Stark Tower, celebrating a recent victory. As we described at the time, the clip has a very funny "pissing match" feel to it as the different members of the team try to lift Thor’s massive hammer. But the footage ends with the emergence of Ultron (voiced by James Spader), and sets up the threat that this robotic menace might present to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
However, allow me to remind you that Marvel President Kevin Feige told us at the time that the Avengers: Age of Ultron wouldn’t share that footage any time soon. Could he have been thinking ahead to the DVD supplement that will be part of the Guardians of the Galaxy home video release?
Not that you need any more excuses to grab Guardians on DVD. The massive Marvel hit curried such favor with audiences, and we expect it to be a smash hit on Blu-ray. Plus, MTV also reportedly recently that the Guardians release will come with this INCREDIBLE case… but only in the UK.
There’s also a very good chance that the Avengers footage featured on the Guardians DVD is a whole ‘nother, polished trailer with brand-new footage that didn’t screen in Hall H. But the time the DVD comes out on Dec. 9, I’m guessing that Joss Whedon will have more than enough complete special effects to enhance a full-length Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer. In fact, knowing that there will be footage on the GOTG disc in December, I’d almost bank on a trailer for the May 2015 release to drop online that week… or some time around it.
