The Avengers Has Found Its Home In Long Island, New York
It feels like just yesterday that Iron Man was rolling into theaters and had theaters erupting in applause when Nick Fury appeared in Tony Stark's house and mentioned the Avenger Initiative. Next summer, audiences will get a double dose of Marvel action when both Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger come out, but before any of that, The Avengers will already be deep into production, scheduled to start up in January. And now they've found their home. Long Island Business News is reporting that Marvel Studios will begin set construction next month at Grumman Studios in Bethpage, New York and will be taking up all seven sound stages that the area has to offer. The film will only be the second to be made there, the first being the Angelina Jolie action film Salt.
For all of the questionable moves and bizarre maneuvers, I still couldn't be more excited for The Avengers. As a lifelong comic book fan, I see how ambitious this project really is and I still can't believe it's really happening. It's also the reason why I fall asleep every night with my fingers and toes crossed hoping that Thor and Captain America actually translate on film. If not, the whole thing could be dead in the water before it begins.
