Babes In Toyland And The Joy Luck Club Are Hitting Blu-ray For The First Time
The holidays are approaching, and many outlets are putting together random Blu-ray sets hoping to entice buyers. Even (and probably especially) Disney is throwing out a couple of last minute releases to celebrate the holidays and help out any last minute buyers. Babes in Toyland and The Joy Luck Club will be hitting Blu-ray on December 11.
I’m not sure anyone was clamoring for a releases of Babes in Toyland or The Joy Luck Club. However, the 1961 Disney film has been continually played on television around the holidays for the last fifty years, so the flick has to have an audience somewhere. I’m less certain about The Joy Luck Club, but perhaps fans of Amy Tan’s fictional source material would be into nabbing a copy of the film. The good news is, both releases are coming to Blu-ray for the very first time and did go through a digital restoration process to clean up the picture and make it pop in High Definition. So, if you do enjoy either movie, now would be a good time to invest.
The bad news is that neither flick is the type to inspire retroactive extras or a slew of bonus features, so if you were hoping to learn some behind-the-scenes stories from Toyland, it’s unfortunately not your set. Both Blu-rays will only cost $20 a pop, so even they aren't a must-buy, they could be nice stocking stuffers for fans. You can pre-order The Joy Luck Club and Babes in Toyland on Amazon.
