I don’t remember which shows my parents put on to babysit me when they were going about their business. The first show I truly remember watching is The Ninja Turtles, but come on, who didn’t watch that? Barney may have been around back then, but he didn’t blow up until long after I grew past the acceptable age to watch the purple dino’s show. But man, does that dude have longevity.
Now everyone’s best dinosaur friend, along with Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine, will soon be hitting a few theaters near you. THR reports that Screenvision and HIT Entertainment have teamed up to bring these pre-school favorites to about 100 theaters nationwide. These features will be released between now and throughout 2010.
The first of the features has apparently already been released (yeah, I didn’t hear anything about it either, but then again, I don’t have kids). It’s called Barney: Jungle Friends and opened on October 10. The next in the series will be Thomas & Friends: Splish Splash, Splosh. This is a great chance for bad parents to go to the theatre with their pre-schoolers, ditch out the back door, and go shopping with his or her new significant other. Okay, please don’t do that.
