Basically Lame Story
It’s a miserably slow news day. Stuck choosing between a new National Treasure poster that is only slightly different than the first one and a story about Basic Instinct 2 maybe kinda sorta moving ahead on production for the fifth time in 2 years I’m going with the BI2 story. If Bill or Matt gets motivated, or if Stuart wakes up from his latest drunken stupor, maybe one of them can try to squeeze something interesting out of the barely different National Treasure thing. Hey George Lucas! Do something evil so I can complain about it!
So Variety says that Basic Instinct 2 is on its way to being greenlit. Well not on its way, but inching closer at least. They’ve secured funding from the German film fund IMF3 (because the Germans love snatch).
While there’s no actual filming date yet, they’ve got what is estimated to be a 70 million dollar budget to play with. They’ll need it to make Sharon Stone’s increasingly aged body palatable. Sometimes I hate CGI, in this case they can’t possibly use enough of it.
