Batman And Harry Potter Highlight Exclusive Fandango Art Show
As the eyes of the world (well, the pop-culture obsessed corner of it) turn to San Diego for the start of Comic-Con, Fandango would like to divert your attentions slightly north for something very cool that they are sponsoring. The movie-ticket hub commissioned 20 pieces of original art from 20 talented artists, asking them only, "What is your favorite movie?" The results will be on display in Santa Monica, California, but we are proud to have an exclusive sneak peek right here:
Fandango shared with us three posters to show CinemaBlend readers, starting with artist Tracy Tubera’s interpretation of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. As you can see, the Dark Knight soars triumphantly over the three main, vanquished villains: Scarecrow, the Joker and Bane. Harvey "Two Face" Dent and Catwoman avoid the spotlight. Maybe they can be part of the follow up?
Shifting gears to another, more magical franchise, artist Kelley Frisby did this incredible tribute to the Harry Potter franchise, which we are happy to share below:
And finally, one of my favorites from the 20-piece collection. Artist Nicole Adamson takes a look into the madness that is Willy Wonka’s imagination with this tribute to Tim Burton’s 2005 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This imagery captures the gothic flavor of Burton’s world, but also looks deliciously inviting… even though we know bad things await.
The rest of the art gallery promises to include pieces inspired by Star Wars, Men In Black, Stand By Me, Jurassic Park, The Princess Bride, The Shining, Field of Dreams and more. All 20 of the posters will be in display at a pop-up gallery in conjunction with the Santa Monica Twilight Concert Series in Santa Monica. You can visit the series at the Santa Monica Pier from 7-10 p.m. on the following dates in 2015: July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30, August 6, August 13, August 20, Aug 27, September 3 and September 10.
And yes, Fandango promises us that there will be giveaways.
