Batman And Lois Lane Will Share Scenes In Batman v Superman
Given that the title of the movie is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it’s a given that the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight will be sharing a lot of scenes together in DC’s next theatrical outing. However, there’s hardly been any details on whether Batman will be meeting any of Superman’s supporting cast. For those concerned, though, fear not. Batman will get the opportunity to meet the second-most important member of the Superman mythos in the 2016 blockbuster: intrepid reporter and our famed Kryptonian’s love interest, Lois Lane.
Amy Adams, who is reprising her Man of Steel role as the fiery Daily Planet reporter, confirmed that Lois will be sharing scenes with Batman in the film when she gave an enthusiastic response to Moviefone’s question about Ben Affleck’s performance as the Caped Crusader (a.k.a the "Batfleck"). Said the actress,
Considering that they’re two of the main stars in this film, it’s not much of a surprise that Adams and Affleck will be sharing screen time. After all, Lois wouldn’t be doing her job if she wasn’t attempting to track down the mysterious Gotham City vigilante if he has shown up in Metropolis. Adams didn’t elaborate on whether Lois and Batman would be alone together or if Superman would be around to mediate the meeting, but regardless, it will be interesting to see what her reaction is to the shadowy superhero. A god-like alien may be unusual, but this is a human who willingly dresses up like a bat and beats criminals to a pulp. Interviewing him would make one hell of a Q&A.
Although Batman and Superman maintain a good friendship in the comics, Batman and Lois don’t interact with each other that much outside of when Superman is involved. It’s similar to a situation where two people might spend time together as part of a group, but they’ll rarely ever be alone with each other. One notable exception to this was in "World’s Finest," the three-part crossover between Superman: The Animated Series and The New Batman Adventures in the 1990s. In those episodes, Lois and Bruce Wayne became romantically involved during his trip to Metropolis - much to Clark’s dismay. Lois eventually discovered Bruce was Batman when he was unmasked during a fight with a Lexcorp robot The Joker sicced on him.
Given that Lois is one of the best investigative journalists in the DC universe, part of me hopes that if she learns in the film Bruce Wayne and Batman are same, she figures it out herself as opposed to discovering it accidentally. Adams already mentioned that Lois will be the "key to the information" in the film, so maybe during the course of one of her investigations, she realizes that the vigilante showed up in Metropolis at the same time that billionaire industrialist Bruce Wayne did, and puts the pieces together. Coincidence? I think not!
Batman will meet Lois and Superman when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
