Beasts Of The Southern Wild To Journey On To Blu-ray In December
Beasts of the Southern Wild has had a lot of critical eyes geared towards it since the film’s appearance at the Sundance Film Festival. Unfortunately, with its festival run and subsequent limited theatrical release, many of us have not had the opportunity to see the small girl named Hushpuppy and her Louisiana community in action. All that can change, soon, thanks to Fox Home Entertainment’s Blu-ray and DVD release.
The flick follows 6-year-old Hushpuppy and her father, Wink, as they live and work in a southern community where the water seems to just keep rising. When Wink falls ill, it’s up to Hushpuppy to go out into the big world and determine her survival, but with a vivid imagination conjuring aurochs and melting ice caps, it may be more difficult than the child ever considered.
Beasts of the Southern Wild will be available for purchase beginning on December 4. I’m not exactly sure it’s the right kind of film for a holiday stocking stuffer, but if you do happen to have a child or spouse who’s looking forward to Oscar season, it could definitely be a pretty good holiday purchase. The Blu-ray purchase, in particular comes with a bunch of bonus features that look at different aspects of the film, including the music. Unfortunately, the DVD won't get the same treatment, but if you are buying for the flick itself, it should be lighter on your wallet. You can check out the full list, below.
