Ben Affleck Spotted On Suicide Squad Set, Will Batman Appear In The Movie?

As it has been building through pre-production, David Ayer's Suicide Squad hasn't really hidden connections to the legendary superhero known as Batman. Not only is the cast rich with character's from the Dark Knight's comic book history - including Jared Leto's Joker, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, Will Smith's Deadshot, and others - but the movie has even been hinting at key locations like Arkham Asylum. It turns out today that the film's ties to the Caped Crusader may be getting even stronger, as new reports are saying that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Ben Affleck has arrived on the blockbuster's set.

While the evidence isn't incredibly strong, the Canadian website eTalk is saying that Affleck has touched down in Toronto, where the production of Suicide Squad is getting up and running. He is the latest actor connected to the DC Cinematic Universe to make his way to the city recently, with stars Jared Leto, Will Smith and Viola Davis having all been spotted in town in preparation for the movie shoot. Of course, there is the possibility that this is a coincidence, though a Twitter user claims to have an image of Affleck actually on the Suicide Squad set.

There is clearly a suggestion here that Batman is going to at least make an appearance in Suicide Squad, though exactly what he will be doing in the movie is obviously a total mystery at this point. There have been previous reports suggesting that the Dark Knight would have a certain effect on the atmosphere of the blockbuster - with the hero being seen as a Boogeyman with whom only The Joker has had contact. It is said that this is what makes Viola Davis' Amanda Waller interested in the Clown Prince of Crime, as she wishes to know more about Gotham's cape-and-cowl concealed crusader. The same report also said that the government has footage of the Batman in action - so perhaps this is what Ben Affleck is currently filming?

Interestingly, Ben Affleck isn't the only Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star who has been rumored to be showing up in the Suicide Squad movie. While it has not yet been officially confirmed by either Warner Bros. or David Ayer, we have been hearing for months that Jesse Eisenberg would be reprising his role as Superman's arch nemesis Lex Luthor in the anti-hero movie. One has to wonder if we're only a few weeks away from reading stories about Eisenberg's arrival in Toronto.

Suicide Squad is currently in production, and in addition to all of the names mentioned above the film also stars Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevigne, Adawale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach, Jim Parrack, Scott Eastwood and Ike Barinholtz. Look for it in theaters on August 5, 2016.
