With a plot description that makes anyone not raised in the cradle of the Confederacy shudder, Southern fried comedian Bill Engvall is starting to film a new movie, Baitshop, in Orlando today. Engvall is best known as one of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour guys and for his work on his own television series and The Jeff Foxworthy Show. His last movie was the awful parody Delta Farce, with comic genius Larry the Cable Guy. Former country singer and Hannah Montana father, Billy Ray Cyrus, will co-star.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Bait Shop unfortunately, is something of a Delta Farce reunion. Engvall’s Delta Farce director, C.B. Howard, will be behind the camera for this outing as well. The plot involves a bait shop owner (Engvall) who enters a fishing contest to win enough money to avoid having his shop foreclosed on by his richer rival (Cyrus.) Think Dodgeball, but with fishing and less actual laughs. In fact, think of any of the other hundred movies with an almost identical plot.

I have to hand it to Cyrus. After becoming a bit of a joke in music, the mullet poster boy has reinvented himself as a family friendly actor and raised the biggest pre-teen pop star on the planet. That doesn’t mean I’d go within a hundred miles of this craptastic movie aimed directly at NASCAR nation. It will be released directly to DVD
