Bonus For Buying Tickets Online

Those of us watching the movie industry keep waiting for the day that movies are released simultaneously in theaters and on DVD as the industry standard. A few movies have already moved in that direction, although it’s a long way from becoming the norm. The Architect is bringing the concept a little closer in a different way however.

If you purchase tickets to The Architect online (through Movietickets.com) you will receive a bunch of bonus materials, the type you’d expect to find on a DVD. So it’s not exactly a simultaneous release for the movie and the DVD, but you can go ahead and get your bonus materials now.

The online extras include the full movie score in MP3 format and several deleted scenes from the movie.

It’s good to see movietickets.com giving some incentive for their services. I live close enough to a theater and in a small enough city that the only bonus material I got for using the service before The Architect was a nice little surcharge. Presumably if this goes well enough with a small film like this one, studios will try offering materials for bigger movies as well. After all, they’re already making featurettes for DVDs. Why not make them available sooner?
