Boxing Radha
Always better as fiction than sport, boxing’s popularity in film and television is on the rise. Sylvester Stallone’s boxing reality show, “The Contender” is getting rave reviews and great ratings while Russell Crowe and Ron Howard have teamed up to bring you the Oscar bait boxing movie Cinderella Man later this year. Without Mike Tyson biting off ears, no one is watching the game, but in Hollywood it looks like boxing is back to equaling big money.
So it’s really no surprise that there’s another boxing related movie in the works. Production Weekly is reporting that the Aussie’s are getting in the face punching game with a love-triangle set amidst the world of boxing in jazz-age Sydney. Who knew Sydney had a jazz age?
Written and directed by Jonathan Ogilvie, the movie described by PW as a 1920’s film noire and is set to star Finding Neverland’s well-dressed ice queen Radha Mitchell, perennial bit parter Ray Winstone, and some fellow named Matt Le Nevez whose name doesn’t sound very Australian to me.
