Brittany Murphy Orders Ramen
Brittany Murphy’s performance in Girl Interrupted as a chicken-eating, daddy-screwing psycho was intoxicating, brilliant, and hilarious. Why she has since squandered her talent in brainless drivel such as Uptown Girls and Little Black Book is beyond me. Thank goodness Sin City came along and gave her a good role for a change.
As for her next project, well, jury’s out until a trailer shows up. Variety reports that she will star in The Ramen Girl, which makes sense since she is beginning to resemble a noodle herself (eat something, girl!). She’ll star alongside Japanese actor Toshiyuki Nishida, and the Media 8 Entertainment film will be directed by Robert Allan Ackerman, from a script by Becca Topol.
The Ramen Girl is about an American woman (Murphy) who is stranded in Tokyo after breaking up with her boyfriend. Looking to peel herself off the floor and do something productive, she trains to be a ramen noodle chef under a tyrannical Japanese master (Nishida).
Principal photography will begin in September.
