Broken Lizard Considers Pony Bush
A tennis-country club comedy called Pony Bush has picked up by Dimension Films, who plan to use it as another vehicle for Broken Lizard to produce.
The Hollywood Reporter says it's written by first time screenwriter Brandon Murphy, and the movie follows a lovable guy named Chucky “The Poodle” Fife and his sidekick Honey Comb Love as they turn a snobby country club named Pony Bush on its head. Chucky teaches rich, brat kids to lose with style while wooing the heart of an uptight heiress with a greedy fiancée.
The story here isn’t the movie, which sounds like a little too much like Benchwarmers meets Napoleon Dynamite for my taste, but the screenwriter. Murphy is a nobody waiter from Brisbee Arizona who sent the script to his girlfriend, who happened to be working at a production company. Now he’s making it big, and plans to move to Hollywood to pursue screenwriting full time. Since he’s a waiter, he should fit right in at some nice restaurant there while he lives off tips waits for his next ship to come in.
