Bryan Singer ditched his baby for Superman Returns, which by the way, wasn’t half as bad as you thought. The sad thing is, he left his baby in the hands of a mentally abusive uncle who dressed it up in dirty clothes and taught it to talk like a doofus. That dude then handed it over, tattered and all, to a guy who knew nothing more so continued the bad treatment. Of course, Singer’s baby was X-Men, and there may be a chance that he’ll be back to save it.
According to THR, Singer stated at the Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea that he’s “still looking to possibly returning to the X-Men franchise. I've been talking to Fox about it." Singer then went on to talk about why he loved working on the franchise, and it turns out, this is exactly what made his films so good. He said that the reason he loved working on science fiction so much is because it allows him to talk about bigger issues through the actions of the characters. "I like to trick audiences into thinking they're seeing fireworks, but they're learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say."
This is great news for everybody, but the question is whether or not he’ll actually get around to it. We’ve heard about an amazing sequel to Superman since the day it arrived in theatres (the one that was supposed to be more like The Wrath of Khan), and that looks dead in the water at this point. So will we get another Singer X-Men? Doubt it. Do I want it? Hell yes.
