Caesar Stares Us Down In Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes Posters
First came word that 20th Century Fox would move Matt Reeves’ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes up a few weeks, filling the summer-blockbuster slot unofficially vacated by the seventh Fast & Furious movie. Now, the studio is putting its best face forward, sharing a handful of "character" posters for Dawn that’s really just Caesar (Andy Serkis) and a bunch of his simian pals.
The one sheets were shared on the sequel’s official Web site, which also features a number of photos from 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, tagging them as images that occurred "Before the Dawn." We see scientists working on the animals in a shady research facility. We see a confused Caesar breaking free. And we are reminded of his crew attacking helicopters on the Golden Gate Bridge.
The site also tries to educate visitors on the dangers of simian flu … which, if you pay any attention to Apes lore, is going to be a huge factor in the spread of the strength of the ape community in Reeves’ sequel. Check this video out:
So it’s time to start brushing up on the effects of the simian flu, because Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is swinging into theaters on July 11, 2014, and you need to be prepared. Reeves steps in for original director Rupert Wyatt, who bailed on the project because he felt the production schedule would have been rushed. The sequel stars Judy Greer, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman and, of course, Serkis as the ape leader, Caesar. Do you like the character posters? Are you excited for Apes? And are you psyched it’s going to open earlier than expected? Comment below.
