New Captain America: Civil War Trailer Reveals New Battle Footage
Now that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has flown into theaters, comic book fans can turn their heads to the world of Marvel for the next superhero romp. Captain America: Civil War promises to be the culmination of everything we’ve seen thus far from the MCU, featuring an ensemble cast and a plot which revolves around events from past films. The wait for Civil War to be upon us is almost unbearable, but luckily Marvel has been holding us over my releasing new snippets of footage in each TV spot. The most recent trailer gives us some particularly exciting moments, check it out.
Come on, this trailer is pretty stinkin’ cool. Let’s examine the new footage we’re being shown.
Obviously, the last seconds of this new TV spot are the most exciting. After both sides charge at each other in what will surely be an epic final battle, we see newcomer Black Panther exchanging blows with Captain America himself. While the two are both formidable adversaries, things get real when Black Panther’s claws meet Cap’s shield. Both of these weapons are made from the very rare and seemingly indestructible metal Vibranium. Thus far, Captain America’s shield, as well as Ultron and Vision’s bodies, are the only vibranium we’ve seen. All of this is going to change with the introduction of Black Panther, since vibranium is naturally present in his home country of Wakanda.
Because Black Panther has some vibranium digs in his arsenal, the claws are actually able to damage Cap’s shield. We had anticipated this moment since the shield looked damage toward the end of the full-length trailer, but seeing Black Panther sink his claws into the shield was more epic than we could have imagined.
The above trailer shows the new formula Captain America: Civil War is using in releasing TV spots. They’re generally utilizing the same footage from trailer to trailer, and add a few seconds of new action at the end of the trailer. We recently saw an almost identical trailer, but with a more humorous end. Check it out below.
Just like the most recent trailer, the TV spot ends with a new moment from the final battle. Instead of the claw moment, we’re shown Black Widow and Hawkeye having some witty banter in the midst of the battle. This seems like a good match, neither of the two have super powers so they can battle evenly. Plus who doesn’t want to chat while fighting to the death?
Captain America: Civil War will burst onto theaters May 6, 2016. We’ll continue to update you on any new information as it becomes public.
