Captain America Could Be Awesome, Captain Awesome!
Director Joe Johnston has promised that they’re close to casting their Captain America for his First Avenger origin movie. We don’t know for certain which actors have made it on to his final shortlist, but now thanks to Moviehole we do know that at some point he was considering Captain Awesome.
Who’s Captain Awesome? He’s Ryan McPartlin, the guy who plays Chuck’s brother in-law on the geek-friendly NBC hit Chuck (where he goes by the Awesome nickname). Awesome says he recently auditioned for the role of Steve Rogers. He explains, “it is in the casting process and like many other actors, I read for it, so we'll wait and see what happens.”
McPartlin certainly looks the part and he has a knack for stealing scenes on Chuck. He’s actually played a superhero before, sort of. Last year he showed up in the limited-released superhero parody movie Super Capers.
