Captain America: The Winter Soldier Gets An Awesome IMAX Poster
In many ways the art of the theatrical movie poster is dead, with the major studios seemingly always choosing generic, bland Photoshop disasters to advertise their movies instead of cool artistic designs, but IMAX has been doing its part to try and keep the art tradition alive. Whenever a major blockbuster has been announced to play on their super screens in the last couple of years, IMAX has commissioned a special, artistic print that is eventually handed out to movie-goers who go to see the film on opening night. Some great examples of this include Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, The Dark Knight Rises, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and now it's Captain America: The Winter Soldier's turn.
As you can see above, IMAX has released an exclusive poster design for the brand new Marvel Studios film, and I must say that it's pretty cool. Even though all of the character poses were featured in the previously-released character posters, it's still a nice layout that has a nice balance of black, red and white. Coming Soon has also posted some similar "stylized" posters, which you can see below:
A sequel to both Joe Johnston's Captain America: The First Avenger and Joss Whedon's The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier begins with the titular hero (Chris Evans) continuing his unique adjustment to the modern world. Committing to his life as a soldier, he enlists as a field agent working for S.H.I.E.L.D. and is paired with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) to perform espionage work around the globe. Things start to get tricky when S.H.I.E.L.D.'s latest defense ideas are revealed and don't quite gel with Cap's black and white view of morality. Suddenly the super soldier discovers that he has no idea who he can trust anymore and goes on the run to find the truth. Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Hayley Atwell, Robert Redford, and Samuel L. Jackson co-star in the film, which will be in theaters on April 4th.
