Carrie Headed Onto Blu-ray And DVD Next Month
The marketing for the reboot of Carrie was actually pretty engaging and stellar. Unfortunately, the movie’s release date was pushed back, with lead actress Chloe Grace Moretz stating the change in release was made so the movie could be made "deeper and darker." Whatever the reason, the film failed to gain a ton of traction during its October theatrical release, but if you haven’t yet caught the flick, you’ll be able to buy it on Blu-ray, DVD on January 13. If you want to just take a look at the Digital HD release of the flick, it will be available even sooner, beginning on January 3.
Currently, there’s no cover art or pre-ordering information available for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment’s set, but that freaky blood-covered photo from all of the promotions might end up being the big winner. Either way, we’ll keep you posted.
Carrie has become an iconic name in the horror world, and Chloe Grace Moretz does the character justice in Kimberly Pierce’s re-imagining of the original film. Unfortunately, since it’s a reboot of a film that was created from a popular Stephen King novel, there’s little shock value in what should be a wholly disturbing movie. If shock value’s not what you are going for, Carrie might be a nice little addition to your DVD or Blu-ray collection. But before you decide, let’s take a look at the extras.
Horror flicks aren’t exactly known for offering the most exciting bonus features. Keeping that in mind, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Carrie release will feature a surprising number of extras, especially if you do spring for the Blu-ray. Both Blu-ray and DVD copies will come with the always-excellent viral video "Telekinetic Coffee Shop Surprise." Admittedly, you don’t need to actually purchase this movie to catch the video, but if you already have the movie in your lap (or this page open for that matter), why not give it a watch?
In addition to the already-seen viral video, if you shell out for the Blu-ray, you will also get an alternate ending and a set of deleted and extended scenes with audio commentary. Usually audio commentary indicates a director was really into the footage that was cut, which is typically a sign that the scenes should be interesting. I obviously haven’t caught these, yet, so I’m just surmising. Still, take a look, below, and see if any of the extras suit your fancy in the least.
