Celebrate Monstober With 6 Frankenweenie Character Posters

Believe it or not, it's already the first day of October, which means your neighborhood is about to be overrun by plastic pumpkins, and cable will be showing far more horror movies than average. Not every October carries with it a movie that's worthy of becoming a Halloween classic, but this year we're in luck with Frankenweenie, the new stop-motion animated film from Tim Burton, who's inspired generation of Halloween costumes and frights with the likes of Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and of course, The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Frankenweenie is a more kid-sized film than any of those, though it bears the influences of all the great monster movies of the past, as you might guess from the title. But before you meet the various monsters who populate Frankenweenie, check out these old-school posters for each of them, which Disney sent over today. To see the entire high-res gallery, click on either of the two posters below.

We'll have a lot of coverage of Frankenweenie coming up throughout the week, including a lot of conversations with the various talent behind it. I'll also be writing a review at some point, but in the meantime, know it's a charming and inventive return to form for Burton, who hasn't made a movie this energetic in, well, a very long time. It also features a lot of voice talent you'll recognize from Burton's previous films, including Beetlejuice's Catherine O'Hara, Ed Wood's Martin Landau, and Edward Scissorhands's Winona Ryder. If you're sick of seeing Burton team up with Johnny Depp, there's even something here for you-- Depp is nowhere to be found.

Frankenweenie opens this Friday in theaters.
