Channing Tatum Loves Like Gosling Loved McAdams
Channing Tatum, the fantasy boyfriend of every female under 18 has a new gig. He’s changing things up, and switching from banal romantic comedies written at a fourth grade level to serious romantic drama with a Nicholas Sparks adaptation.
Empire says the movie is Dear John, and New Line Cinema has hired Channing Tatum to star in the film as a soldier who falls for a hot, conservative college student while home on leave. They want to get married, but Tatum’s character has to go back to war leaving distance and time to separate them from their commitment. If this sounds an awful lot like the plot to The Notebook, that’s because both movies are adaptations of Nicholas Sparks books. Apparently they’re all the same.
No word yet on who will play the film’s female lead. The Notebook had Gosling and McAdams, somehow I think this one will be a notch below that in casting quality. No offense to Tatum. Maybe they’ll drag Jenna Dewan in. Tatum’s fans seem to like watching them make out together.
