Channing Tatum Takes It On The Chin
No matter how bad they are, spoof movies make a lot of money There’s no stopping their profitability, and The Weinstein Company wants in. Variety says they’re gonna bring it on with a script they’ve bought called Dirty Step Stomping, which spoofs all those horrible dancing movies we keep getting stuck with. Save the Last Dance, Step Up, and Stomp the Yard are primary targets. Take that Channing Tatum.
Said the film’s screenwriters Steve Basilone and Annie Mebane, “Easiest buck ever!” Ok, they didn’t say that but come on, how hard is it really to write these things? Basilone and Mebane are apparently playwrights by trade. That means they’ve actually had to come up with original ideas in the past. Compared to that, this must be like hitting yourself in the face with your typewriter (for some reason I always imagine that playwrights don’t know how to use computers). Unless of course their plays are all Andrew Lloyd Web spoofs.
