Charlize Theron is taking a trip with Tom Cruise. Variety says she’s joined the cast of The Tourist, where she’ll play an Interpol agent who uses an American tourist (Cruise) to hunt down a criminal whom she once had relations of an intimate nature with. That means sex.
The movie is a remake of a French film from way back in 2005. I’m not sure it’s wise to remake something so old, but with Charlize Theron and Tom Cruise involved, you have to assume Hollywood knows what it’s doing. They start shooting in March, which should give us all plenty of time to forget how much Tom Cruise sucked in Valkyrie, making it easier to be optimistic about a movie in which we watch him trudging around in flip-flops on vacation. Of course since it’s Tom Cruise, his vacation will include Charlize Theron and things blowing up.
