Chris Nolan Not Doing Batman 3?

For months now we’ve heard from various sources that Christopher Nolan is set to return for a third Batman movie. There seemed little doubt, from anyone that he’d be back. Not so fast. Here come the rumors.

Batman On Film claims to have heard from mysterious and unnamed inside sources that Nolan’s return is far from assured. Warner Brothers desperately wants him but maybe Christopher Nolan himself doesn’t want more Batman.

There’s no real hard evidence here to support BOF’s rumor and again, everything else said about the movie up till now seems to take Nolan’s involvement as all but a foregone conclusion. It is worth noting however, that whenever Chris himself has been asked about the project his answers have always been ambiguous. For instance back in December he said, “I wouldn't want to do one if it weren't going to be as good as the first or second. That's not respectful to the fans.”

I still believe that eventually, Christopher Nolan will get around to making another one. To me this sounds a lot like all the will he won’t he surrounding Sam Raimi and Spider-Man 4. Eventually that worked itself out, he got on board, and now they’re moving ahead with the right director doing more Spider-Man. Warner Brothers, though they have reportedly put together a backup list of other directors, is more than willing to wait for Chris if he actually wants to do it. They’ll give him anything he wants and all the time he needs. Let him get his next movie, Inception out there and then we’ll see what happens.
