Christoph Waltz Confirmed For The Muppets...Again!
One of the more anticipated sequels in the works right now is James Bobin’s sequel to 2011 hit The Muppets, which creatively brought Jim Henson’s beloved creations back to the limelight with music and comedy at the forefront. And with Academy Award-winning Bret McKenzie back as music supervisor and the addition of Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais to the cast, it looks like they’re sticking to the same winning musical comedy formula.
As such, it made sense when two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz was replaced by Modern Family’s Ty Burrell, depressing as it was, and though we kept our hopes up when Waltz hinted at a cameo, they were reserved hopes. Well, apparently Ricky Gervais, never the tight-lipped entertainer, has confirmed that Waltz is indeed in the film while doing an interview on the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show on Absolute Radio.
Just before getting into a talk about his upcoming Netflix series Derek, Gervais giggled his way through this bit.
It’s not a full character biography or anything, but a confirmation of Christoph Waltz appearing in a diaper commercial would be exciting, so knowing that he might show off more of his dry comedic chops in The Muppets…Again! is downright (in)glorious.
The Muppets…Again, which will also feature Ray Liotta and a slew of other celebrity cameos, will be in theaters on March 21, 2014.
