Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 Lands A Pair Of Directors
The 2009 animated film Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs was the definition of a surprise hit. While nobody really expected anything from it, it turned out to be well liked by critics and pull in nearly $250 million at the international box office. There's been talk of a sequel for some time now, with the writers of Horrible Bosses hired to pen the script this past summer, but the directors chair has been left empty as Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the filmmakers behind the first film, have signed on for projects like Bob The Musical and the Lego movie. So who will replace them? Today we have our answer.
Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn to direct Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2, according to Variety. While both Cameron and Pearn worked on the first movie, as story artist and head of story, respectively, the sequel will be their first mainstream film (Cameron directed the direct-to-DVD animated film Open Season 3, which came out last year). Lord and Miller are still attached to the project as executive producers, but the movie does not yet have the green light. The plot of the film is being kept a secret for now, but it will continue the adventures of eccentric inventorFlint Lockwood, voice by Bill Hader in the first movie.
Until the project does get the go-ahead by the studio we probably won't be hearing much about casting, but let's hope that they can bring everyone back. But while it would be nice to have Hader and Anna Faris and James Caan reprise their roles, there's really only one thing I want from a Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs sequel: more of Neil Patrick Harris' Steve the Monkey.
