It makes a lot of sense that since Tron: Legacy is a direct sequel to a movie which was released nearly 30 years ago and perhaps forgotten by mainstream audiences since then, that Disney might want a way to get the original film fresh in our minds. Today at the Tron: Legacy Comic Con panel Legacy director Joseph Koskinski confirmed that there are plans to re-release the 1982 Tron and what’s more, they may re-release it in 3D.
When asked if the original Tron would get a 3D re-release Kosinski responded this way: “I think you cane expect to see the original Tron in some pretty exciting formats very soon.” Unless someone has recently invented the holodeck, that has to mean it’s coming in 3D, doesn’t it?
