Comic Con: Saw Cuts Through Ratings
Darren Lynn Bousman and Mark Burg presented information on the upcoming Saw IV at Comic-Con today, along with series regular Tobin Bell. Among other information the presenters announced they had just gotten the MPAA’s ruling on the initial cut of Saw IV: NC-17. They told the audience they were now going to have to determine whether they will cut it down to an R rating or leave it as is – as if they have a choice. Most major theater chains still refuse to carry NC-17 movies, so I can’t imagine even Lionsgate will allow them to leave things be. This probably means that inevitable “Unrated” DVD release will be something to speak of though.
Along with the rating news the trio answered questions and showed a clip from the movie. Coming Soon has an excellent description of the clip, which involves one of the traps from the movie. I swear, the people who come up with these ideas need to be kept under close surveillance. I just hope they get their deviancy taken care of through the movie scripts.
