Conan Gets A Voice
Over a year ago we announced John Milius was bringing Conan back to the big screen, with professional wrestler “Triple-H” playing the title role instead of California Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger whose career really took off with the Cimmerian role. His movie career that is, not his political one.
Earlier this year we announced Milius was no longer involved and that the project was on hold, most likely dead. Milius was quoted on G4 (Tech)TV as saying “Warner Brothers decided they're going to do their own version of whatever they want to do with Conan... They'll probably do an animated, kid-friendly Conan.”. It turns out Milius was right.
Enter New Line Home Entertainment and Swordplay Entertainment, who are working on an animated Conan film. The animated film will be based on the classic Conan story “Red Nails” by Conan creator Robert E. Howard. Hollywood Reporter announced this week that the title character will be voiced by... Ron Perlman. Perlman will join a fan-friendly cast that includes Cree Summer, Marg Helgenberger, Clancy Brown, Mark Hamil, and James Marsden.
Conan: Red Nails begins principal animation soon and is expected to have a summer 2006 release date.
