Could Common Be The A-Team's New Mr. T?
Here’s the latest in A-Team casting rumors. IESB has an interview with Common in which the rapper turned actor seems to hint that he may be up for the role of B.A. Baracus in the A-Team movie being directed by Joe Carnahan. Baracus was of course, the character played by the heavily jeweled Mr. T in the original series.
When asked if he could be B.A. Common said, “I can't speak on it yet until we know what's going on but that would be an incredible character to play.” That sounds like nothing. A complete non-story. But later in the interview when asked if we’ll hear something about the part soon Common adds, “Yes, that's what they are saying, if it goes. But you know you need to keep your pace and patience and let things develop.” Ok it’s still kind of a non-story but Common does seem at least to be hinting around that maybe he might actually be talking to someone about the role. Maybe that someone is his pet gerbil or maybe it’s Joe Carnahan. He has worked with Carnahan before, with a small part in Smokin’ Aces.
So throw Common’s name into the B.A. Baracus sorting hat along with just about every other remotely muscular, partially bald black actor in Hollywood.
