Sequels! Sequels! Sequels! That’s what we want to see. Screw new ideas, we want re-hashed, tired concepts that are familiar. Or at least that is the message we are sending to Hollywood. No genre knows the evil that lurks in a sequel like the horror genre, and Wes Craven has news that will make your head spin while you spew vomit and obscenities.
Clint Davis from Blood-Disgusting.com caught up with the over-the-Hill director at the New York Comic Con and scored some sequel news.
“There could be [a Hills Have Eyes 3], it all depends on this [new] one. I wouldn't be at all surprised, though, because we think [Hills Have Eyes 2] will do really well,” Wes Craven said as his eyes turned to dollar signs. When asked about the possibility of Scream 4, Craven said, “Actually, I received a call about that for the first time the other day. Obviously, I've been asked about that for a long, long time. I think that it isn’t completely off the table at this point, as far as the studio making it. I was asked if I'd be interested, but I said it would depend on the script. [Scream 4] isn't something that's around the corner or anything, they are now thinking about it.”
It’s one thing when studios milk a franchise to death, but it’s another thing when the original creator pimps it out for no other reason than the all mighty dollar. The Hills Have Eyes remake sucked and the sequel looks just as bad. Do we already need a throwback to 90’s horror in the way of Scream 4? No, we don’t. What’s next, The Second to Last House on the Left or maybe More People Under the Stairs? No thanks.
