Cusack And Duff Fight The Future
In one of the weirder casting announcements I’ve heard in awhile, it appears that John Cusack and Hilary Duff are teaming up to star together in a post-apocalyptic version of Children of Men.
The story comes from Moviehole where they say the movie in question is called Talking to the Dog. It’s being written and directed by a guy named Mark Roper.
The idea is a world in which the problems portrayed in Children of Men are never solved. Imagine if things in Cuaron’s movie were a lot worse, then mix it with ‘The Ghost Whisperer’ and you have Talking to the Dog. Here’s how MH describes it: “Time has stood still for two, small communities. The consequences of Global warming, the lack of fuel, power and communication, have left them in isolation. Dying has become an industry, a woman able to give birth, now only a dream. Into this environment, a young man arrives. He is able to communicate with the dead, able to learn secrets of the past. Because of his presence, the two communities learn that love, in a dying world, is still alive and that there is always hope, even over greed.”
I love a good post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller, and I love John Cusack. I’m not sure I like the idea of those two things together. And I have a really hard time picturing Cusack on screen with Hilary Duff. Will they have some sort of romantic involvement? I hope not, that’s just too creepy.
